" This place is fantastic! "

" I just don't even have the words to describe how pleased I am with their service and (all organic!) products.

Whenever I walk through the door, I get a pleasant greeting from the staff. And I don't just mean the receptionist, I mean everyone I pass by smiles and says hello. Whether it's your first or fiftieth Brazilian, Carina makes sure that you are comfortable and are aware of what her process is--and she ensures your dignity remains intact while you're there. As for pain, of course it stings a bit, but she really does minimize the ouch-factor. She is fast, professional, knowledgeable, yet friendly and approachable.

I've not had the coffee...heard it's to die for...and I wouldn't be surprised. The chocolates they sell are hand crafted, organic, and just addictive. Yes, they're pricey, but worth it for a special treat. Most are vegan friendly, too!

I can't end this review without a nod to their organic sugar. I call it the Mi Cumbia Craft Sugar....but whatever its name, it is worth getting some. Home crafted by cane farmers in Colombia, it has an earthy sweetness with a hint of a molasses flavor.

Next on my list? Getting a mani/pedi there....they seriously pamper their clients in a spotless salon. Pricey? Sure. Worth it? Every penny. "  J C.

" Simply THE BEST manicure in Philadelphia. "

" The quality of the manicure and overall experience are fantastic.

Have you ever wanted to have a relaxing manicure and found that the experience was hectic, the salon phone was constantly chirping, and you were rushed out so the next customer could have your seat? Well there's none of that here.

If you can imagine getting a manicure in a yoga studio, that's what Mi Cumbia is like. The staff is warm and friendly without being intrusive, and they were beyond patient when I was trying to decide between 10 different nail polish colors. The atmosphere is soothing and relaxing. The nail polish is all organic and they serve an excellent cup of Colombian coffee. Without hesitation, this is the only place I go for manicures. "  Laura C.

" I used to hate getting a manicure. "

" I loved the results, but hated the experience of every other establishment: rushed, maybe clean?!?, no regard for chemicals, unfriendly and awkward.
Mi Cumbia Organica has changed that. I couldn't recommend them more. They are super warm and welcoming and have a wide variety of safe polishes to choose from. Super clean and quaint inside. It doesn't smell like a nail salon. Very spa like in a beautiful and friendly way. The staff is amazing. They have delicious coffee and chocolate and gorgeous jewelry for sale.
I'll never go anywhere else!!!
OH! And one time I messed up my appointment time. 100% my fault. Not only were they professional and understanding but they accommodated me and paid for my coffee for the inconvenience of a slight service change! "  Kristen H.

" I booked manicure/pedicure appointments - "

" - for me and a friend after reading the great Yelp reviews.  We both had the Coconut Pedicura and it was amazing.  The ambiance of the room is very calm and relaxing - you really feel like you've been transported to Colombia!  The pedicurists took their time with us and our service included a foot massage that transported me to another world.  My pedicure looks perfect today, after 4 days of walking around the city in sandals.  My pedicurist was Gabriela, who was very sweet and friendly!  You will not be disappointed!
This salon is pricey, but you are paying for the experience of true indulgence and relaxation, top-quality organic products, and supporting a family-owned business.  Well worth it! "  Meredith L.

" I always look forward to my biweekly - "

" - splurge at Mi Cumbia.  Anywhere else is just a manicure; this place is an experience.   I had a most fabulous visit this past Friday.  Karina helped me pick out the perfect shade to go with my outfit for my milestone birthday bash and engagement announcement.  And Gabby gave me a wonderful manicure and pedicure (and you know those first pedicures of the season are always a  little rough;-).

My birthday bash was a blast! And I was proud and excited to show off my new ring with my perfect manicure :-)

Muchas Gracias! "  Sharon H.

" I had a terrible week. Health issues - "

" - + some other personal problems have left me in a bit of a meltdown, and my cuticles alone have been needing some TLC: I chew & pick on them when I'm sad & anxious, & this week has been, pretty much, nothing BUT sad & anxious.

Enter amazing sister-in-law extraordinaire with a gift-certificate to Mi Cumbia for a mani-pedi, which I oh so desperately needed. (Why yes, I DO have the best sister-in-law ever, & yes, you SHOULD be jealous...a SIL+BFF all-in-one is something not all women are lucky enough to have!)

So, now, about Mi Cumbia...I LOVE everything about this place. Everything organic, most products are vegan, love the decor, love the music, & everyone who worked there was super nice. Oh, and the raw organic chocolate from Colombia? Treat yourself!

Hanh did my mani-pedi & she was nothing short of phenomenal. Not only did she have to work extra crazy hard to get what might have been 4-5 coats of  ridiculous glitter polish off my toes (don't ask, I'm an idiot & shouldn't be allowed to do my own nails ever), but she cleaned up my cuticles so well that you would never know that my week was full of anxiety & sadness! My fingers are a beautiful shade of pastel pink, & my toes are a complementary shade of pastel green.

And all is right in the world. "  Laura Jill S.

" I know I reviewed MI CUMBIA in February, - "

" - but that was my first time having a Brazilian with Karina. I decided to provide an update because, since then, I've been going for a Brazilian and underarms every 3-5 weeks.

Nothing's changed except that I've moved to DC but still go to Tierra Mia for my waxing. I have been getting waxed for the past 4-5 years and have never been this consistent. I'm consistent because I don't have an excuse not to be. I don't dread going for fear of how painful it's going to be or how astronomical the cost. Those were probably the two top reasons for my previous inconsistency. I don't think waxing can be completely painless because hair is being ripped off of your vajay-jay but she takes extra steps to ensure that you tolerate it as much as possible. That's why it's worth every penny!

The staff is always friendly and offer cold water while you wait (I've read other reviews where patrons were offered chocolate and other fancy stuff although I can't comment on it). It's always clean, and most importantly, Karina is always professional but warm. "  Ayana P.

" I had my first Brazilian wax yesterday - "

" - and it was a very good experience. Katrina is amazing. I walked in the room and she had a hand towel so I could lay over myself after getting changed plus a packaged wipe so I could freshen up. I have been getting Brazilian waxes since I was 18 and this was one was  nearly painless. After she pulls a strip of hair she holds the skin so the pain is less. She keeps you updated throughout your wax "2 more strips on this side" which is nice. She also took the time to pluck the little hairs at the end so everything was perfect, Overall everything was great and I will be coming back in 4 weeks for a touch up :) xoxoxoxo "  Tiffany T.

" My wife suggested i try Mi Cumbia after her great - "

" - experience.  I get manicures and pedicures from time to time, but always feel a little out of place as one of the only guys there.

Mi Cumbia is a much more gender neutral experience with their salon set up (cool burlap coffee bags adorn the walls).  When I called, Sean was able to get me a same day appointment and provides excellent customer service.  He made me an outstanding coffee when I arrived and is just an all-around positive and nice guy.

Marjorie did my pedicure and Blanca the manicure.  Both were very pleasant and did a great job.  The all-natural, organic products are a plus. "  Paul G.

" I can't say enough about this amazing nail salon! "

" I went for the first time on Saturday and treated myself to the coconut pedicure which was wonderful - hands down best pedi I've ever had!!!  I  was beyond relaxed from the comfortable, reclinging pedi chair to the warm coconut oil that they massage your feet and legs with...to the ambiance of the salon which is a rustic, calming Columbian vibe. I even drank incredible Columbian coffee they offer you as I enjoyed being pampered.  Karina is sooo sweet and friendly - she really makes sure everyone is comfortable and enjoying themselves.  Although its a bit pricey, its so worth the money and the organic experience.  Even the color selection is the best that I've seen! Please go and treat yourself because you won't know until you try. I already booked my second appointment!! "  Gia D.

" This place is the best SPA in Philadelphia. "

" It's not just a nail salon- it's a vacation experience. Karina does an amazing job of transporting all customers to Colombia. She is so sweet and so good at everything she does. I strongly recommend her for every service she offers and her staff has excellent customer service. My one tip is to be sure to book your appointments well in advance and give yourself plenty of time to look for parking. "  Jasmine A.

" I only started going here last winter, when - "

" - I decided I wanted a manicure with a little more pampering than what you get at one of the in-and-out quick places.  I'd heard various good things about it, and figured I'd give it a try since the basic manicure was only about two dollars more than the other places.

I love this place!  The people are very friendly in a genuine way - I never felt like I was a stranger, or shouldn't be there.  The place is small, but very pleasant, and nicely set up.  I have gotten some of the best manicures here that I've ever had, and they last without chipping up to five days - which for me is a miracle!  Even the basic manicure is very pampering, and when I recently tried a pedicure, it was decadent in the most wonderful way possible!

Everyone there seems more than qualified.  I have usually gone to Bianca, but recently had Jen do my pedicure.  I can't imagine that you could go wrong with anyone who works here. "  Bridget C.

" I was a little incredulous of the incredibly high reviews - "

" - for this place, but I see where they come from now and add mine to the mix!

Went here for a bikini wax and got 5 star service the whole way, starting with my phone call for an appointment! The woman who books the appointments is so warm and friendly and was able to give me a same day appointment two days before Valentine's Day... They had to have squeezed me in!

When I got there early, they didn't make me wait until my appointment time, but took me in right after they finished the person before me. I'm not usually one to chat during salon appointments but my waxer was so engaging and friendly that I barely cared that she was tearing hair out of my most sensitive region. She may also have just been very good at it... It was as close to painless as a bikini wax has ever been for me. And she talked me through all the details of maintenance and generally fun facts about waxing so that i felt totally comfortable and not at all apprehensive. When I looked at the results, it was exactly right- just conservative enough for my prudish sensibilities but neat and sexy enough for vday. So happy I went here! Highly recommend.

Edit:: I have to add that the atmosphere is so warm and natural feeling- very comfy as opposed to posh, and instead of women's magazines I found a book of Pablo Neruda poems to weep over while I waited. So great."  kate e.

" I want everyone to go to Mi Cumbia...but - "

" - at the same time I don't want it to get so well-known that it's impossible to get an appointment! This is my go-to place for waxing. Karina is swift, gentle, and precise. The nail treatments are fantastic, too. For a special treat, get the coconut mani/pedi--my hands and feet have never felt better. The entire staff is warm, professional, and dedicated to making sure you're 100% pleased with your services. "  Ali B. Zagat
